Cindy Jane Slifer

February 6, 1950 — May 6, 2024

Cindy Jane Slifer, a loving daughter, sister, friend, and devoted educator with a kind soul, passed on May 6, 2024. Cindy was born February 6, 1950, to Elsie Fern Sindelar Slifer Gray and Dale Emery Slifer. She is survived by her brother, Edward Dean Slifer (Jane), and half-sisters and brothers: Alice J. Lantz, E. Marie Nolen, Russell D. Slifer, and Joseph E. Slifer.

Cindy loved teaching students and made a difference in many children's lives. Cindy worked collaboratively with colleagues and made time together for fun. She shared ideas and materials to help everyone be successful. She was a talented teacher and went to extreme ends to actively teach her elementary students. Cindy will be remembered for her generosity, inquisitive mind, and quick wit. She was a good friend who listened, asked questions, and celebrated life's joys.

Cindy had numerous deep friendships, love for humanity, and cats. Her deep thinking, brilliant sense of humor, and extreme kindness made her a cherished friend and teacher. She was diverse in her interests from beaded arts, writing, sampling adventurous restaurants, supporting the visual and performing arts, and showing support for so many worldly cultures. She had a strong moral compass and deeply believed in social justice.

Cindy was an extraordinary human being and will be dearly missed. Congratulations on a life well lived! A celebration of Cindy’s life is being planned. Donations to the Dane County Humane Society in Cindy’s name are welcome in lieu of flowers
