Christopher Laing

May 1, 1958 — April 3, 2026

Christopher C. Laing, 67, of Monona, Wisconsin died on April 3rd, 2026 after a hemorrhagic stroke.

Chris was born on May 1st, 1958 to John and Marilyn Laing in Glen Ellyn , Illinois.

His unquenchable thirst for knowledge led him to years of study of numerous subjects, ultimately leading to a Creative Writing degree from the UW-Madison. He was the author of the Youngs Oaks duology The Golden Span and Unusual Gifts.

He was a loving, devoted soul mate to his wife Sue of almost 25 years and a wise, sweet , encouraging bonus Dad to Ben and Emily. The proudest title of his life was that of Grampa. His grandson Liam was the only person he would happily skip Jeopardy for to answer incessant questions of "Why?" Efforts to avoid rambunctious behavior were met with failure.

He was a fun-loving charismatic raconteur and faithful friend to those young and old he considered worthy of the name.

He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved mother-in-law.

His survivors include his wife Sue, kids Ben and Emily and their spouses Mercy and Mike and precious grandson Liam.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 18th at 3pm at Chief's , 300 Cottage Grove rd , Madison, Wisconsin.
