Charlotte M. Barton

Charlotte M. (Kaney) Barton 97, of Baraboo peacefully entered eternal rest May 15th, 2026 just one week after her 97th birthday with family by her side at her home. To know Charlotte was to love Charlotte. After a lifetime filled with love, strength, family and devotion, Charlotte leaves behind a legacy that will continue through generations.

Charlotte was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother who lived to see 6 generations be born. Charlotte cherished every moment spent with her family.

She was adored by her five children: Jeanette Parks, June (Ron) Haefner, Paul (Joyce) Harms, Rita Loomis, and Brenda Legnar (Pat). Her family was the center of her world, and her love reached far beyond words. She was a proud grandmother of Jackie (Terry) Spencer, Jennifer (Don) Loveless, Angela, Alex, Jammie, Scott (Seqouia) Becker and Katlyn (Tyler) Wells; blessed with more than 19 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews all of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life.

A special heartfelt thank you to Charlotte’s oldest daughter Jeanette and youngest daughter Brenda, and her grandchildren, Jackie, Scott and Katlyn for being her constant companions, caregivers, and rays of sunshine throughout her later years. As well as Bristol Hospice for the amazing care they gave.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her father Wilfred Kaney Sr and mother Madelyn (Dorow) Kaney; her beloved husband Gilbert Barton; and daughter’s June Haefner, and Rita Loomis.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 21st, 2026 at Lower Ochener’s Park starting at Noon.
