Charles Winton Grimm, known affectionally as Charlie, passed away on July 9, 2024, at the age of 78 in Middleton, WI. Born on April 13, 1946, in Glencoe, MN, Charlie was a man known for his resilient exterior and tender heart. His sharp wit combined with a deeply caring nature, left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Charlie dedicated his career to operating convenience stores, a vocation that brought him into daily interaction with the community he cherished. His work was not just a job but a way of connecting with people, which he did with kindness and a dry sense of humor.
Beyond his professional life, Charlie had a profound love for adventure, sharing many trips throughout his life with family and friends. His passion for fine foods was notable, with a particular fondness for lobster. Charlie's musical tastes were rooted in country, with Johnny Cash and John Denver among his favorites. An avid sports fan, he particularly enjoyed baseball, which remained a lifelong interest.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Arlene and Harvey Grimm; sister, Diane Grimm; and grandparents, Rose and Walter Boehlke and Harvey and Eva Grimm. He is survived by his daughter, Marianne Grimm; granddaughter, Madeline; cousin, Gary Grimm; and other relatives and friends.
A service to honor Charlie's life will be held at a later date at Ferguson Cemetery in Norwood Young America. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, as a man who brought laughter and kindness into the world.
