Caroline D. Currie

July 8, 1932 — January 5, 2026

Caroline D. Currie (Herritz), age 93, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026. She was born on July 8, 1932, in North Freedom, Wisconsin, to Harry and Ella (Klukas) Herritz.

Caroline grew up in North Freedom in a large, close-knit family. From an early age, she found joy in caregiving and babysitting. As a young adult, she worked in a local Madison retail and gift shop, where she enjoyed meeting new people. One of her favorite roles was at Specially Hers in Baraboo, where she retired after years of helping women feel beautiful by styling them for weddings and special occasions.

Caroline was known for having some of the most beautiful potted flowers on the block. She loved dancing and continued to dance at the VFW well into her late eighties. She was also known for baking family favorites—especially chocolate chip cookies and Scotcharoos—at every holiday gathering. She was famous for her long, cheerful phone calls, her quick humor, and her playful pranks. Her memory remained sharp, and she cherished recalling special moments spent watching her grandchildren grow.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Currie; and nine siblings.

Caroline is survived by her sister, Judy (the late Bob) Ellis; her brother, Jim (Nancy) Herritz; and her three daughters: Teresa (Mark) Storlid, with children Tory and Kayla; Cheryl (Loren) Bowns, with daughters Brittny (Scott) Hovland, Kasi (Ryan) Raubolt, and Alex (Danny) Sullivan; and Lou Ann Sheridan, with daughters Karly, Kassandra, and Kyle (Kris) Witt. She is further survived by 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her tremendous pride and joy.

A celebration of life will be held on June 6, 2026, at the Bowns Family Home.

Caroline will be remembered for her humor, warmth, and deep love for her family, and the song “Sweet Caroline” will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved her.
