Carl R. Cook

July 23, 1982 — February 21, 2024

Reedsburg

Carl Robert Cook, born July 23, 1982, won a courageously long fought and difficult five and a half year battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully in his home on February 21, 2024.

First and foremost, it should be known that Carl fought to live as long as possible for his wife, Jodie, to ensure that she was taken care of so she wouldn’t have to worry about anything after he was gone. This reflects the love and loyalty that he had for her and those he cared about most.

Carl enjoyed the outdoors by himself and with family and friends, doing things like hunting, fishing, cutting wood and so much more. This is where the adventurer in Carl came out, and he was always dreaming up new fishing and hunting adventures to take friends and family on. He referred to these as “Adventures with Cook”.

It was important to Carl to be there to support close family and friends in any way he could. As part of this, Carl showed his love by being the protector. He always tried to keep everyone safe; this took on different looks throughout his life. In the last few years, he shielded his family and friends from much of his treatment and pain that he experienced. He did not want his suffering to be their last memories of him.

Preceding Carl in death was his Mother, Linda Metza, Paternal grandparents, Elizabeth and George Cook Sr., Maternal grandparents Glady Ewing and Benjamin Oakley, Maternal Aunt, Janet Fenelon, Uncle, Bernard Oakley and Cousin, Jennifer Fenelon and many other extended family members.

Carl is survived by his wife, Jodie and son’s Cole (Renee) and Josh, his Father; George Cook Jr., Sisters; Natalie (Venson) Richey and Amarah Cook and Brothers; Mark (Jenny) Redden and Nathaniel Cook, Sisters-in-law; Jenniffer(Amanda) Steeb, Tracy(Chris) Chalupa, Uncle Don (Laurel) Fenelon, Aunt Lois (Roger) Radtke, Uncle Barry (Karen) Oakley, Cousins; Gail (Bill) Fenelon, Lori (Dave) Reeves, Dale Oakley Nieces; Suzanne Bolyard, Arwen Steeb, Victoria and Aliah Chalupa Nephews; Benjamin (Megan) Hintz; Jonathan Redden, Jacob Redden, Colin Chalupa, Second cousins; Logan Spencer, Mason Spencer, Megan Spencer and many more cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life by special invitation only. Each person who is invited to this was important to Carl and they held a special place in his heart.
