Born August 5, 1933, to Clarence and Margaret (Bremer) Kalepp. She grew up on a dairy farm with sister, Bernice, and brother, Lloyd, near Dorchester, WI. After high school her pursuit of knowledge led her to graduate from UW-Madison and she later earned her master’s degree in education. Bonnie’s teaching journey began in 1956 at Shawano HS. There she met the love of her life, Gene Polzin. Their marriage took them to Janesville where they both taught math at Craig HS, until Parker HS was built in 1967 and Gene transitioned there. They shared a passion for skiing and founded Ski Clubs at each school. They enjoyed winter skiing locally, with many weekends in the Michigan UP. In 1986, they had relocated to Medford to be closer to her roots. After teaching over 3 decades, she retired. Their adventurous spirit sent them traveling and forming cherished friendships, especially during several winters in Texas. Her energy and love for learning kept her active. She loved stain glass, sewing projects, and making beautiful quilts for her family. Bonnie’s unwavering faith in God was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her dedication to her family and church. Her warm smile and presence touched everyone she met. Active in the churches she attended in Janesville, Medford, Texas, and Middleton, her presence and love will be deeply missed, but will be forever treasured in our hearts and minds.
She was married to Gene for 63 years until he passed away in 2019. Survivors include her three children: Eric (Marcy) Polzin of Janesville, Greg Polzin of Evansville, and Lisa (Sean) Whinnery of Middleton; sister, Bernice of Medford; four grandchildren: Joshua, Gera, Aidan (Rosie), and Declan; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
