Arlene Gross Moreland, Madison, WI, passed away September 15, 2023, just short of her 103rd birthday. Born in Osborn, MO, to WF and Coletta Gross, Arlene spent the majority of her life in Northwest Missouri. After earning her Associate Degree in Business Administration, she worked for Donnelly Garment Co in Kansas City, MO, makers of Women’s clothing and Armed Forces uniforms used in WWII.

She married James H. Moreland in 1948, then began her employment at Red X Oil Co, Cameron, starting as a Secretary, and eventually became a Co-Owner. In her later years, she worked for the IRS in Kansas City. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother, and husband. She is survived by her son, Steven (Susan), Oregon, WI; grandsons, Christopher (Amber) and Jeffrey (Paige); two great-grandchildren; nieces; and their families.

Arlene enjoyed listening to Big Band Jazz and the ability to remember dates, details, and events. Her acumen for numbers and near photographic memory served her well until just recently. Her Great-grandchildren were the light of her later years. She was the self-appointed family "Commander", whose motto at times was “ ’Til I get you Better paid”. Godspeed, Nana, you are paid in full.

She will be interred this Fall in Missouri. Memorials may be made to the Agrace Hospicecare of Madison, WI. Thank you to the staff of Oak Park Place and Agrace for your roles in providing her care these last 9 years.
