Amy Suzanne Kobishop

Amy Suzanne Kobishop of Sun Prairie, WI sadly passed away at home on Wednesday, March 12, at the age of 57 after a prolonged battle with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Amy’s husband, Brian, was at her side.

Amy was born on January 30, 1968, in Madison, WI to Clare and William “Bill” Kerwin. Amy married Brian in 2005.

Amy grew up in Windsor, Wisconsin and attended Deforest Area High School, graduating in 1987. Amy went on to attend the University of Wisconsin – LaCrosse graduating in 1990 with a degree in Accounting. Amy also earned her CPA in 1990. Amy started her career with the accounting firm Ernst & Young. In 1994 she joined Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation (Great Lakes). She worked for Great Lakes and Ascendium (Great Lakes became Ascendium in 2021) in a variety of roles for 28 years retiring in 2022.

Amy enjoyed being athletic. Golfing, hiking, going to the gym and watching the New York Yankees win in the post season are just a few of her interests. Prior to her ALS diagnosis Amy took up road biking. If you saw a woman riding a bike in the Sun Prairie area and she had a big smile plastered on her face it was Amy.

Amy was preceded in death by her mother, Clare. She is survived by her husband, Brian; her dad, William; and her sisters, Patty Kerwin (Mike Slattery) and Jennifer Kerwin (Damien Schuermaun). Amy will miss talking and playing with her two grandsons, Fin and Kai, and her dog, Papi.

Amy and Brian want to thank the physicians and nurses at the UW Hospitals and at Brighton Hospice, this journey would have been much harder without you. And a special thank you to Dr. Kathleen Murphy-Ende from UW Health for her compassion and care.

Amy’s wish was for her friends and family to celebrate her life by coming together to share stories and memories. A celebration of Amy’s life that will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn of Sun Prairie https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/msnspgi-hilton-garden-inn-madison-sun-prairie on Saturday, April 26. The celebration is from 3 to 6 pm. Remarks from Brian will be at 3:30.
