Alida Mau of DeForest, Wisconsin passed away on November 1, 2025, following a prolonged illness. She was born on June 27, 1990, to Randall and Sandra (Jagler) Mau. She graduated from DeForest High School in 2008. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2013 with BS degree in Natural Resources. In 2015 she received her Master’s Degree in Ecology from Michigan Tech. She worked in Puerto Rico, Massachusetts, Alaska, Kansas and Georgia doing plant surveys for NEON. She participated in roller derby in Portland, Oregon and Madison, Wisconsin.
She had a lifelong enjoyment of athletics, participating in track and cross country in high school, track, cycling and bouldering in college, hiking as an adult. She was a skilled artist who designed multiple logos. Her favorite activity was being outdoors, hiking, birding, kayaking, photographing plants and gardening. She was enthusiastic about hiking Wisconsin’s Ice Age trails. She loved singing, playing guitar and spending time with her cat Jaq. She was a poll worker volunteer in Madison and volunteered to do rare plant surveys. She was proud to have completed a Master Naturalist course at UW Extension earlier this year.
She is survived by her parents, Sandra and Randall Mau of DeForest, brother Robert of Madison, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Margaret and James Jagler of Sheboygan.
A remembrance of her will be held at a future date.
